Grassology is a scientifically-derived type of grass seed. You can use it for filling in bald patches on your lawn, or completely overseed an existing lawn. It will even grow on hills and other sloped areas. The roots of Grassology grass are four times as long as those of standard grass, allowing them to absorb more water and nutrients from the soil. Therefore, the grass requires less watering and fertilization.

How It Works

For more than 10 years, scientists and lawn experts have been experimenting with seed blends, trying to find the one that creates the best grass. They believe they have found it, with Grassology, as this grass is soft and hearty, and maintenance is easy. The grass will pop up between five days and three weeks after planting, but will slowly grow to a dwarf height, so it won’t require excessive mowing. It does not contain any genetically modified or artificial types of seeds, so is safe for kids and pets to play on.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Mow Existing Lawn
  2. Before you use Grassology on it, whether you're using it on patches or the entire thing, cut your lawn as short as you can. Make sure you clear all the grass clippings off of it.

  3. Spread The Seed
  4. Spread the Grassology seed with your hands or by using a rolling spreader. Apply five pounds of seed to every 1000 square feet of grass. You can increase that amount to seven or eight pounds if there are lots of weeds in an area for the seed to compete with.

  5. Rake Seed Into Soil
  6. Rake the seed into the top eighth or quarter of an inch of soil, without applying a lot of pressure. Some of the seed may still be visible after you're finished.

  7. Temporarily Minimize Use
  8. For ideal growth, avoid regularly using the lawn for a month after planting the seed.

  9. Water
  10. Make sure the soil is moist for the first 30 days after planting, and then gradually cut back on the amount of water you give to it.

  11. Reseed
  12. To keep your lawn at optimum quality, reseed it with Grassology once at the start of the next season. If you have overseeded your entire lawn, it will be made up of almost all Grassology grass by the end of that season.

Uses

  1. Filling In Bald Patches
  2. Sometimes, when kids and pets play frequently in the same spots on a lawn, certain patches will begin to become bald. If you fill these in with Grassology, you will cut back on the maintenance required for at least some of your lawn.

  3. Overseeding Entire Lawn
  4. You may be so impressed with the quality of Grassology that you'll want to reseed your entire lawn with it. Ripping up your old lawn is not required; all you need to do is cut it before spreading Grassology. By the end of the second season you use this seed, your lawn will be almost completely made up of Grassology grass.

Advantages

  • Large Quantity Per Bag
  • Each bag is one pound, and contains enough seed to spread over 250 square feet of a lawn.

  • Fights Pests, Weeds, Disease
  • The Grassology seed blend is naturally resistant to problems such as weeds, pesky insects, and disease.

  • Soft
  • Even when fully grown, Grassology grass is so soft that it can be walked on with bare feet.

  • Deep Roots
  • The roots of Grassology grass are able to reach and absorb water and nutrients deep within the soil on their own. This is due to the fact that they are four times as long as those of standard grasses. Their length and enhanced ability to absorb means that you don't have to water and fertilize Grassology as often as you would other grasses.

Critical Advice

While Grassology can withstand light or medium traffic, don't use it on a heavily-trampled playing field for team sports such as soccer and baseball. When you're planting it, make sure you follow the guidelines as to how much seed to use. If you apply too much seed to a particular area, the seedlings may compete, leading to none growing as effectively. The spring and fall are the best times to plant, when the ground is a temperature of 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
